We are delighted to let you know that following enthusiastic voting in the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ grant scheme, the project put forward by Sun Hill Infant School and Sun Hill Junior School has secured the top award - £12,000! We simply can’t thank you all enough for voting for us at Big Tesco in Winchester and of course at our own Alresford Tesco. The staff in Alresford were wonderful too, reminding customers to pick up a token each time they shopped.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Julie Mountain who has worked tirelessly to ensure that we got the highest possible grant and we are very much looking forward to working with her on all the exciting new projects this Grant will fund going forward.
So the big task now is to work out exactly how the grant will be spent and we will keep you updated over the next few months as we discuss this between the two schools. The purpose of the grant is to create spaces and places in the school grounds that we can use for learning and play, and that others who also use the schools (such as After School Club, sports clubs and holiday play schemes) can make use of too. We are planning to provide more seating for children, wildlife habitats and technology to allow children to monitor our wilder areas, shelter in the grounds and importantly, much better access up to the field from the Junior School. The plan to gain better access to the field has only been made possible because we were successful in gaining the extra £5,000, so again, many thanks to you all and to your friends and family members who also supported our bid.
