SUN HILL JUNIOR SCHOOL REPORTS DRAMATIC IMPROVEMENT IN YEAR 6 SAT RESULTS – PRESS RELEASE
Sun Hill Junior School is delighted to announce that its 2018 Year Six cohort has achieved much improved SATs results.
The percentage of children reaching the expected standards is as follows: Reading 76% (up 5% from last year), Maths 76% (up 13% from last year), Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS) 68% (up 1% from last year). Writing, at 58% was 1% above predictions. (Individual children’s results will be issued later in the week with their reports.)
The school has been through a few difficult years, but today’s outcome is a direct result of the hard work of the teachers and children over the year and bears witness to the many improvements introduced into the school this year by the new Head Teacher, Mrs Sue Griffiths.
Sun Hill Junior School became a part of the Perins Multi Academy Trust (MAT) on 1st September 2017 and, since that time, all the staff, with the support of Perins, have worked tirelessly to provide the best possible education for the children in the best possible environment.
Commenting on the results, Mrs Griffiths said:
“We are so proud of our Year Six children, who worked incredibly hard to achieve these results. I am very grateful to our dedicated teachers and support staff and would also like to thank the parents for their continuing support”.
Chair of Governors, Sue Pakenham-Walsh added:
“This is sign of real progress at SHJS and should be an encouragement to all of us associated with the school. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve over the coming year”.
